Hackensack, New Jersey ? May 30, 2012 ? Salem Press, a division of EBSCO Publishing (www.salempress.com), is pleased to announce the launch of The Library Blog Center?the home of The Library Blog Awards and the newly revised Library Blog Directory.
Months in the making, with input from experienced bloggers and editors, Salem?s carefully vetted Library Blog Directory is a free, no-registration-required tool designed to help librarians discover high-quality blog content on LIS issues. The 1,300-plus library blogs may be searched or browsed by focus (e.g., Book Views & Reviews, Cataloging & Classification, K-12 Education); blog type (e.g., independent, publication, association); or blog audience (e.g., general, academic, school, public).
?I?m happy to say that the Blog Directory has taken on a life of its own,? said Peter Tobey, Salem?s Director of Sales and Marketing. ?It?s substantially more comprehensive than ever before and offers terrific search capabilities. Librarians will find what they are looking for and ? hopefully ? a few things they didn?t search for but simply found.?
In addition to maintaining the Library Blog Directory, Salem Press continues to host The Library Blog Awards. Now in its third year, the popular contest celebrates exceptional thinking and writing in library blogosphere. Each year, winners are selected in several categories with help from the voting public and a panel of distinguished judges.
Nominations for 2012 Library Blog Awards are open until June 4th. Librarians are invited to nominate their favorite blogs by emailing Salem at blogs@salempress.com.
?We welcome nominations, especially of newcomers,? added Tobey. ?The blogging community helps to knit the rest of us together and so new voices add to the mix with thoughtful observation and critique of the change all around us.?
